Epcot’s Journey of Water in Disney World

Disney WorldDisney World proudly opens Journey of Water, inspired by Moana, to annual passholders. It will make its public opening on October 16, 2023.  The walk through experience educates guests on the cycle of water with water-filled interactions around every corner. Guests will quickly encounter this experience as soon as they enter Epcot, sitting directly behind Spaceship Earth and in front of the Land pavilion. Guests may enjoy the exploration at their own pace, taking 15-30 minutes, depending on how long you enjoy each station.

Learn from Moana and interact with magical water stations as it teaches you about the water cycle and preserving water as a natural resource. As you move through the lush pathway, you will be encouraged to jump, play with different water features, and wave your hands making certain movements with your friends and family to produce water movement.

Guests also may decide if they want to get wet or stay dry. There is a waterfall you can walk through and it will open for you as you walk slowly through it. If you walk quickly, it will not have time to part and you will get wet. There are also splash pads near the end!! We find the kids love spending time in this area.

Epcot’s Water Education at Disney World

Disney WorldJourney of Water has 8 opportunities for guests to learn about the water cycle. Guests will encounter the rain section first where they will be delighted with misty effects and faucets of water that play music when touched with your hands. Second, is the stream section where you may command water to move by waving at it. Third, is the wetland section where you can learn about plants and their need for water.

The Spring section allows guests to hold their hands above the water and it will rise up to meet you. The fifth section, land, explains how water shapes land and you will find the water curtain you may walk through slowly and it will allow you to pass. Next, in the lake section, you will see the goddess Te Fiti sitting beautifully on a lake. The river section consists of jumping water and takes you to the splash pads. The last section is sky, where a misty path will lead you out back into the sky.

If you are waiting to scan into a Lightning Lane, this is a great opportunity to keep the kids moving and give everyone something to do until that Lightning Lane begins! Keep in mind you do need to park your stroller before entering. This gives everyone more room to walk, getting out of the chaos of the crowds plus a chance to cool off with some water and shade on those extremely hot days!
